Frequently Asked Questions about LED Displays

Got questions about our LED displays?

Here are some of the most common queries, along with straightforward answers to help you navigate your LED journey with ease.

  • What is LED?

Is an electrical current pass through a microchip, which illuminates the tiny light sources (LED’s) and the result is visible light.

Our displays harness three decades of manufacturing excellence from Shenzhen, the undisputed global epicenter of LED innovation.

This isn't simply Chinese manufacturing; it's the culmination of 30+ years of relentless refinement and mastery.

The world's most sophisticated LED technology isn't born in corporate labs—it emerges from Shenzhen's specialised ecosystem where hundreds of manufacturers have been perfecting their craft longer than anywhere else on earth.

Almost all LED is manufactured in China, about the only place with the depth of expertise to deliver rich visual experiences.

  • What is Pixel Pitch?

Pixel pitch describes the density of the pixels on an LED screen and correlates with resolution.

Sometimes referred to as pitch or dot pitch, the pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres from the centre of a pixel to the centre of the adjacent pixel, both horizontally and vertically. Since pixel pitch indicates the amount of space between two pixels, a smaller pixel pitch means there is less empty space between pixels. This equates to higher pixel density and improved screen resolution.

It’s important to note that a finer pixel pitch doesn’t equate to a better-quality screen – it simply means that this screen has a higher resolution.

However, there can often be a trade off or sacrifice when it comes to finer pixel pixel pitch options. As an example, a sub-2mm pixel pitch solution may mean that a smaller diode size may need to be used, simply because the LED’s are so closely spaced together. If a smaller diode is to be used, that may lead to reduced brightness being emitted in many cases as well as decreased longevity and increased degradation as we would need to drive more current to the chip to achieve the desired brightness levels. More current means more heat which leads to a shorter lifespan.

Another trade off when it comes to fine pitch screens is their durability – they are often extremely fragile which could lead to an increased number of module faults, simply by someone accidentally bumping into a screen. Ultra-fine pitch screens are also much harder to service and support which leads to slower turnaround time when modules need to be repaired by our manufacturing partner.
